Fire & Smoke Damage Drywall Repair FAQs

Can smoke-damaged drywall be saved, or does it need replacement?

Lightly smoke-stained drywall that is structurally sound can usually be cleaned and sealed with odor-blocking primer. Drywall that is scorched, blistered, or absorbed heavy smoke should be replaced — the paper facing holds odor permanently. We assess wall by wall.

Why does my repainted room still smell like smoke?

Standard latex paint does not block smoke odor — it needs a shellac or oil-based sealing primer first. This is one of the most common fixes we do behind other painters’ work.

Do you work with insurance on fire restoration?

Yes. We provide itemized quotes with photos that map to standard insurance line items, and we can walk the scope with your adjuster if needed.

How long does fire damage drywall restoration take?

A single room typically takes 3–5 working days from demo to final paint, depending on drying time between coats. Multi-room projects are scheduled as one continuous job with a dedicated crew.
